Road transport consumes about 39% of the final energy of the country and is, for many companies the bulk of their carbon footprint. It is, therefore, one of the major contributors to the emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants in the air, which not only accelerate the climate change but are estimated to be responsible for more than 20,000 premature deaths, according to the European Environment Agency.

In response to this situation, the decarbonisation of transport is critical to achieve the goal of a climate-neutral economy by 2050. With this goal la new Policy european report on Sustainability (CSRD) forces more than 50,000 european companies to comply with a series of factors environmental, social and corporate governance; the so-called criteria ESG. 

Among the environmental factors include those that affect the entire value chain, including the CO2 emissions of its suppliers (emissions scope 3), and forcing indirectly that they control their own carbon footprint (scope 1) in order to be competitive in a market that puts the responsibility on all levels.
